I'm not enjoying this at all, and I've ground to a halt in the SW. Could I have a hint on 16d to see if it gets me going again, please?
Bad leg not visible during play (8)
(It may end in E)

Synonyms for bad and leg. "not visible during play" is the definition. Your E is right.

Got it, thanks, xwordfan

This crossword is awful isn't it? 24a is just wrong, and there are 5 more I have serious quibbles with.

2 to go!

Nope, still stuck. A couple more hints, please

18a Lying bums hide beneath their disguise (5,7)
F?L?E,?*?T?M?

4d Meddling kids initially snoop, eh? Most plausible (6-6)
S?O?T?-S?*?E?

(The * is the letter in common)

I can guess the first word in 18, but a second doesn't spring to mind!

Yes, but the same trick is in 7d. (I picked the arithmetically correct first word for 13 at first, but couldn't do 11d!)

For 18a you need synonyms for lying and bums (body part), the definition is "hide beneath their disguise".

4d is an anagram of snoop eh most and initially kids. The definition is a fairly uncommon definition of plausible
