Hi jigjag, the extra letter can be anywhere. In one clue it's the whole word!

Jigjag, it's doable without the extra letters - I finished with lots of gaps. I got a word or two here and there, but the perimeter helped.

I thought this puzzle was excellent, and more than welcome after the damp squib of this weekend’s Listener

I really enjoyed this too. I'd finished the grid and got the theme etc. but couldn't get one answer in the top right corner. I then remembered the alternate spelling of one word, and finally got there.

As a newbie to the EVs I would appreciate a nudge! I have a completed grid much to my surprise but simply cannot figure out the perimeter! Could some kind soul give me perhaps the first couple of words and put me out of my misery?

Crackers, the perimeter isn't in English. The phrase starts next to the name in the bottom row, on the left side.

Hi, I often see references to this crossword but can't recall seeing it in a paper - where and when does it appear? Thanks

Brendan, this crossword, Enigmatic Variations, is the thematic puzzle in the Sunday Telegraph. It appears alongside the weekly cryptic and general knowledge crosswords. I think you have to be a subscriber to get it online.
