I made no sense of his clue at ll - it's a chemical compound related to arsenic - look that up in Chambers, and you'll find it.

I have to agree that this particular Mephisto was not as enjoyable as usual, and I think Paul McKenna is the weakest of the team of 3 crossword setters.

Hello K - I've just seen your comment. I agree with you. His clues are so obtuse, without any wit or humour. Tae 28 ac, apart from the definition, there doesn't seem to be anything that leads to the answer. the mephisto seems nothing like it used to be.

Can I have help with 27a please? dislocations would fit but I don't think it's right?

The last part of the word is an anagram of insults and o for old.

Can someone put me out of my Mephisto 2598 misery: namely 25 dn. I have ?ooa? and there's nothing anywhere that matches this. Also, what has "meadow" got to do with the answer to 32 ac?
