Yes. It's quite a good clue for its misdirection

I'm impressed you've finished Chrise. I started about an hour ago and am struggling with this one, though I did get the playwright early on and was amused by the parsing. Thanks for giving me enough information to get 6d and 22ac. I have an answer for 24ac, but am not sure if it shouldn't be 10ac. I have an answer for 13d Pompous fiction distributed in China (10) , but am not sure of the parsing. I have P?N?I?I?A? and according to my Chambers it doesn't mean what I thought it did. have I got the crossing letters right?

Yes. It is impressive isn't it? I'm not doing so well but, yes, I think your across letters are right. I think there's some rhyming slang involved in the parsing??

Hi roof
24 and 10 have the same meaning in the US.

In 13 "China" is rhyming slang, once removed. I agree that an "ating" ending would match the definition better!

Thanks Chrise

I've now understood 13d and feel happier with it.

I'm still not sure I have the right answer to 10ac as I cannot see any link to "today", but I will soldier on.

If you look back, roof, you will see that I missed that too. It is literally "today".

Stuck on just one - 17across.
Left workplace XI one short for return game (7).
Imagine it's Redp_l_ - redpole fits but can't parse it.
