North east corner still to do.
8D would help. I've had advice on another thread (thanks, ixion) but still stuck. I know it needs a switch, def. instrument, the untreated instrument has 10 letters, entry ends in O-T. Any further clues appreciated.

Thanks to the help earlier, I've now made some progress. I'm, really puzzled by 1 across (is it beer?), 1 down and 22 down (I have Y***O)

1d yes beer from beTTer (better verb can mean to cap) not drinking = TT (tee totaller) take the TT out of beTTer

22d is a changer ... you need a 5 letter artist starts with N..... then you change both the beg and the end!!

Thanks sj. The penny dropped just after I posted, after having looked at the clue for hours. Done now - I found this Genius hard going, and I'd never have got the last entry (5D) from the wordplay without knowing what the entry must be.

I have only just started on this one today, so I am way behind everyone else!
Stuck on 5, 16 and 20d.
5d: is there a Japanese connection here?
16d: I have N?T?R?A?. I keep thinking around 'American Pie' ...
20d: I have C?N?T?.
I have not included the clues for those who haven't done the puzzle because they are not straight clues, but I can remind anyone who did it so long ago that they have forgotten!

16 Not 'American Pie' - a very famous Beatles song (your first letter shows the amended version, it was a Y before that).
