Turns out I can't count to 56... which is probably grounds for dismissal where I work!

I'm almost there, grid fill done and most of the bars in pace but I can't resolve the bars in rows 3 and10. I can't find words in those rows which will work for 180 degree symmetry. Can anyone give me a gentle nudge in the right direction please?

I have the same problem. As far as I can see COA is not a word.

Thanks PKD. As I never send my solutions off, I'm not sure I can be bothered to carry on inserting bars. I'm beginning to agree with Ionacarr : the solution was hard enough. Doing the Listener is a kind of masochism in some ways, I fear.

Ok, I've had another look in Chambers, and it says Bra is 'short for' rather than an abbreviation, so I suppose it's all right.

Late starter and just about there I think. I have two "nose"s like another here. Can't see that's not allowed but unusual in a crossword (and anatomically!)

Also I have the slang 5-letter word not in Chambers as mentioned by aspria as the last across answer in Row 1 (having set the symmetrical bars). Could be the last 4 letters but then I'd need too many bars so is that right?

Different type of nose. The symmetrical entry is in Chambers. The resulting adjustments fit quite NEATly.
