I thought the across clues were misprints, but it looks like there are two different solutions to the same clues.

I'm stuck on 17d and 27a + don't know whether to guess 18d and 26d - but can't submit anyway ... so going to bed!

Having watched Sherlock the other night....I deduce a new setter called "soup" with a posh S.E. background!

This is mildly irritating - how am I to profit from my geographical advantage to get my solution in first if the puzzle is incompletely published? BuzzyBee in New Zealand

You'll just have to be frustrated with the rest of us ... until someone gets into the office and corrects things.

Apparently this puzzle has been set by a compiler named Hamish who uses the pseudonym 'Soup'; it's his first for The Guardian.
He has posted this to The Guardian's Monday cryptic crossword comments:

Hello,
I've set the Genius puzzle this month - my first for the Guardian - but sadly the gremlins have crept in and a) the form's missing and b) so are two clues. These are:
18d Slide down a mountain in a bearskin (3)
26d Girl's tummy's beginning to be fat (4)
I can't do anything about the form, though; I've emailed the Editor...
Cheers,
Hamish (Soup)

PS.
Below the post shown above, Soup has posted:

Oh, and while I'm at it:
Maybe evil, like my first Guardian puzzle? (6)
Maybe evil, like my first Guardian puzzle? (9)

Haven't looked at the Genius puzzle yet but guess this is an extra hint to the puzzle.

Thank you rh! That just leaves me stumped by 27 - and with no way of submitting, of course. Weird because in general couldn't believe how easy it was in comparison to most Geniuses.

Prospero, I agree about the relative simplicity. It's more like a Monday or Tuesday Grauniad rather than a Genius. For what it's worth I read 27 across as a double definition.
