PS - Rusty, if you type Scots Kirk in Paris, Wikipedia will give you the whole history of the church. very interesting; It has been there for centuries, but has been restored/rebuilt twice- Read about it, you will find worth your while

Helli, Pigale!
Nice to hear from you!
It is good you went out with your friend.
Yes, I can imagine people would be on edge just now.
Our council chambers are lit up like the Tricolore.
Blue, white, and red across the whole building.
Good that they can do something properly, as well as dishing out parking tickets to lifeboatmen!
It is 5°C here, but I have not heard that we are to get snow.
Bit early yet!

Hey, Rusty!
Good to hear that your son and his wife had such a successful shopping trip!
I am dreading having to go Christmas shopping - probably younger daughter and I will do some of it together - we usually do!
I don't mind so much if I have a list of choices - it's when the inspirations for gifts are left to me that I quake in my shoes!!

Yes, Crystal Palace Park is huge - and, of course, we have the Athletics Sports Centre ( you will have seen that on the television, as a venue for Athletics competitions?) in the middle of it all, plus the Dinosaur Park.
Other "local" parks are even larger though - for instance, we have Lloyd Park in South Croydon and Beckenham Place Park , both of which are larger than is Crystal Palace Park.
And we have several Commons around us, too! We are very fortunate in our green open spaces!

But we are ten miles (+) out of London - in Inner London there are also several big parks, such as Hyde Park , St James' Park (you would have seen some of that on the TV, during the cycle road racing events recently )and Green Park - not to mention the various local Commons.
And of course, Hampstead Heath!
I could go on........many people mistakenly think that London is just a built -up city area - but London is FULL of green spaces !!!

Hello, Pigale,
I have had a wee squiz at the site you mentioned.
Very interesting. I know a bit about Eric Liddell.
Seems to be Scots Kirks in several European cities.
One in Lausanne, not sure what country that is in?

Elle,
I have not heard of Dinosaur Park?
I think we have discussed St James Park?
Why it is called that? I have forgotten!
I know about the athletics stadium, speaking of which, how do you think Coe is doing?
He gets a lot of money from Nike each year.
I think he is completely wrong for the task.
Jon Snow ran rings around him in his interview.
My crossword was fairly easy today.

Glad you enjoyed looking at the site - I knew nothing about it all.
Lausanne is in Switzerland; but I agree, it sounds that there are Scots Kirks everywhere in Europe - and right it is too.

Rusty,
I'm sorry, I have confused you!
I loosely referred to the dinosaur area inside Crystal Palace Park as the 'Dinosaur Park'! I believe this should be correctly called the 'Dinosaur Court', although no one ever calls it that! It is an integral part of C/P park , NOT a separate park!
Yes, we talked about St. James Park when the cycling Road Races were taking place there.
To refresh your memory, it is named after St James the Less, believed to be the son of Alphaeus (as opposed to James the Great , son of Zebedee)
I didn't see the interview between Seb Coe and Jon Snow - did you watch it ?
I heard that Snow accused Coe of being "either asleep on the job or corrupt"? Is this so?
A bit harsh, I feel? I think Coe is a genuine person, who has honourable intentions, and means to do the best he can to get Athletics back on the straight and narrow......whether he will be a strong enough character to do so is another matter..........?

Hello, Elle.
I saw a bit of the interview and Coe was floundering.
Snow asked him if he was "asleep or corrupt?"
Many sports seem to be corrupt now.
All the governing bodies seem to be crooked.
There are other countries that warrant investigation in athletics.
Kenya and Jamaica spring to mind,
Spain, USA?
The Aussies seem to have disappeared from athletics?
I think Coe is part of the system and it is far too big a task for him. Jon Snow made very good points that Coe could or would not answer. We need Interpol or high powered legal people to stop the rot. These committees are full of folk on the take.
I think Russia will be at the Olympics. Deals will be done and the sport will suffer.
Anyway, I hope doggie gets on fine at vet tomorrow!

Good morning, Pigale!
Just letting you know that my town had a candlle-lit vigil last night for those who were killed in Paris, and for the people of Paris and France.
It is dry here but cold!

Hello Rusty,

Thank you for telling me this, It is indeed a very nice gesture from your town, and I thank your Local Council.

Here, it is dry, but due to rain, very dull and not cold !

Rusty,

I have just googled 'Dundee Candle-lit Vigil' and I saw picture of the gathering there - a lot of people; I also saw a picture of the Caird Hall all lit-up to the French Colours and it did look 'beautiful' if this is the right word.
