Pigale.
I hope you did as Rusty advised and went down to the village, after all, this afternoon?
Perhaps took some flowers if there is a suitable place to lay them?
I am sure that meeting up with friends and neighbours would have made you all feel better?

Hi, Rusty!
It's been a terrible day! The rain never stopped (still coming down strong as I write this!)
Fell dreich!
I haven't been out since this morning. No second dog walk, and no gardening!
I have started reading "The Life of Pi", and have watched a "Morse" that I had recorded a while back.
I still cannot find the autobiography of John Thaw that I bought from the farm Boot Fair. It has vanished into 'thin air'!
I may have to consider looking on Amazon for another copy!
What have you been up to today?

Hi Elle,

Yes, I did go down and met up with quite a number people I know well; we all gathered in our favourite cafe and it felt good to be together and share the same disbelief, the same uncomprehension.

No flowers from us but there might be a small ceremony tomorrow Sunday with the Maire etc, and flowers will be put around the War Memorial then (It is already well flowered from the 11th November!)

I have just heard the latest news from the radio - we are now talking of 129 dead and no less than 352 injured, nearly 100 of whom are in Intensive Care! unfortunately these are still temporary figures.

I guess Paris might be the safest place in the world to be in tonight, with all the civilian and military forces deployed everywhere ! Another thousand military men are due tomorrow from different regiment elsewhere in France and will join their Paris area comrades - Rather a lot of uniforms everywhere.

I also heard that London will illuminate the Tower Bridge (or is it London Bridge ? - only caught the end of the sentence) in the French colours; a very nice gesture.

Even Amazon.fr have a french flag on their web page, with the word 'Solidarite'. how thoughtful.

I guess you know all this anyway through listening to your TV so I hope I am not boring you with my rambling on !

Hello Elle,
We were forecast heavy rain. It did not happen, but the temperature has dropped. 5°C. Quite chilly.
Not like you not to go dandering!
You will likely find your book when you are looking for your hatpin or something else.
I was home most of the day. Still my crossword to do!

Hello, Pigale,
That was good you went to the village to meet some friends.
It helps in these situations. It is good to meet up and chat.
Yes, I think Paris should be very safe tonight!
Just heard of a bad rail accident near Strasbourg, too.
Not good, at all!
There are buildings lit up in Scotland tonight, as well.
Red, white, and blue, for France.
Remember, Scotland and France had the Auld Alliance for many years in times past!
Pigale, you are certainly not boring me.
At times like this, it is good to talk!

Yes Rusty, Scotland and France have always been allies - suffice to read the history of our Kings and Queens. Very thoughtful to have some buildings lit up Bleu Blanc Rouge - Thank you.

Glad your weather is not as bad as expected; it might have chosen to take a different route - rather this than it being delayed and arriving in the night. Are you not due for another batch of bad weather tomorrow as well, or have I got this wrong ?

Pigale, I'm hearing that in London, Tower Bridge will be illuminated with the colours of the French Tricolore.
And in Trafalgar Square, the fountains will also be lit up in the French colours; while two flags will be projected onto the front of the National Gallery there.
I wonder if similar will be done with the London Eye?
Flags everywhere are flying at half mast.
Everyone feels shocked and unbelieving at such tragedy and as you say the numbers of the dead are still climbing.....
Feel free to talk anytime - it helps at times like this to do so - and is NEVER boring! Don't ever say or think that !

Pigale, there has been a minute's silence at the ice hockey games this evening. My grandson is at one and has texted to me.
The weather is calm just now, but the temperature has dropped.
There was some snow at Aviemore yesterday.
Hope it stays there!

Hi, Rusty!
It is still wet here!
No, you are right, I usually do go out in all weathers, but the dog is still recuperating and until her stitches are out, I have been trying to keep her relatively dry and clean (especially the latter!)
Hence the limitations to my perambulations!
Tomorrow hopefully will be a better and drier day and we can go further afield.
All my books from Amazon (bar one which won't be released till early Spring) have now arrived, so I shall not be short of reading material for a while.
I shall check out Black Friday offers, too, nearer the time!
Have you got anything in mind to look out for in the Black Friday Sales?
(Er......hatpin?)

Yes, minutes of silence everywhere and on a national level on Monday morning (forget the time); The Marseillaise was yet another nice gesture; and a nice rallying call.

I also heard that the football spectators at Stade de France yesterday (where bombs exploded outside) all spontanuously sung the Marseillaise as they were being evacuated.

Just as well that the normal security checks at the gate of Stade de France are strict enough to have deterred the attackers from entering into the stadium -and thus decided to let the explosion take place outside - otherwise It would have been a carnage !

Elle, did you find your hatpin, yet? Is that what you are asking?
I am not sure what to get on Black Friday.
I have Hammerite paint to buy. I will have to have a wee think!

Pigale,
Just saw a photo of the rock band U2.
Each of them laid flowers at the concert hall which was attacked.
Maybe in Paris for a concert?
Was nice of them anyway.
A very trying time for Paris and France.
