Good afternoon, Rusty!
Update.....
We have had a text from our younger daughter.
They have arrived safely at their holiday flat in Swanage ......and were not held up too much by the circuitous drive by road through Wareham; necessary because of the lack of the ferry.
The Midland's contingent is not here yet, although we had a message a while back saying they were en route.
I am assuming the traffic is bad...
How are the cycling and horse racing going?

Hello, Elle!
A lovely afternoon here!
That's good news for you from your daughters and their travelling.
I was out earlier but am home for the day now, I think.
I have not watched the racing and LouLou has abandoned the Clasica.
Several of the lads who rode the Tour have pulled out, and it was a young lad called Remco Evenopoel who won.

Hi, Rusty!
My daughter and grandsons arrived safely a few hours ago.
We have now had dinner, and the boys are playing a game on their laptop.
Peace is reigning for a little while.......
I doubt it will last long......!
Why did LouLou and others abandon the Clasica?
Were the conditions poor?

Good evening, Elle!
Lovely evening here!
Good news that your family has arrived.
I think LouLou and others had a three week grand tour in their legs and may have been struggling.
LouLou rode 80kms before climbing off, though.
And it was his team mate who won.
The weather was great in Spain.
I was reading about the women's race in London and Kirsten Wild seemingly managed to bring down half the field, just 100 metres from the finish line!
She was disqualified, though.

Hi, Rusty!
I haven't seen any of the London cycle racing...although I often do watch to see familiar landmarks.....
We have been playing a (new to me) card game that the boys brought with them...
I couldn't fathom it very well...!
It seems that you have to reach a multiple of ten to "steal Zeus" ( a little figure that comes with the game)
Then there are other cards that throw a spanner in the works....
No doubt I shall have grasped it by the end of the week!!
The boys have gone to bed now...and we adults are recovering!

Hello, Elle!
I am not keen on city centre racing.
I prefer the open road and an Alp or two.
Here is Kirsten causing havoc.
Now, there is a big crash in this, remember!
Kirsten is a great rider, too.

I do not know this game the boys are playing.
Three card brag is my game!

A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
We have a lovely sunny day here!
I hope you have the same?
No early morning walk today for the dog and me, as the plan is for everyone to go out together later in the day.
We shall take a picnic, and go to one of our large parks.
My goodness, that was some cycle "spill" triggered off by Kirsten!
They all went down like ninepins!
I do hope no one was badly hurt?
I have fed and watered the troops------grandsons, dog and cat, that is ; my husband and my daughter are still fast asleep!
I am hoping for a quiet coffee and a look at the Everyman, whilst the boys play on their tablets........before I am inveigled into playing board games!

Good morning, Elle!
It is overcast here.
Think rain is coming.
You seem to be well organised for today.
Kirsten won't be Miss Popular with the rest of the girls, perhaps!
She clipped Chloe Hopkins' front wheel and chaos resulted.
I've not heard of any injuries.
It will be mostly "road rash".
All in a day's work for racing cyclists!
The men are racing today.
Not sure of the route but it involves Surrey-London.
I think it finishes on the Mall road.

Hi, Rusty!
I do not recall the London -Surrey cycle route off hand, but The Mall is often used in important events, especially for Royal ceremonies.
The Mall is a beautiful tree -lined road, leading down from Trafalgar Square through Admiralty Arch towards Buckingham Place.
It is most imposing......and is one of my favourite place to walk along, when I am up in London!
I think we are heading out very shortly.......I just have to organise the food for the picnic!
Catch up with you later...... we shall probably be home again about teatime.

Hello, Elle!
Heavy rain here!
I have heard of the Mall Road before.
Seems to be a popular road for bike races in London.
Hope you all enjoy your outing!
