Hi, Rusty!
Goodness ,we have crossed posts for a second time!
Now I didn't see Laura today at Birmingham?
But I did miss a chunk in the middle when my daughter rang for a chat......
Or was she not there today?
Maybe taking place in an event tomorrow?
Did you notice The Crepery in the cycling video?
It is crepes that I love to eat sometimes when out with the Ladies who Lunch!

Hello, Elle!
I think Ollie made a very interesting video.
Yes, I saw the crepery.
I'd say nobody would pass by? Not me, anyway!
Now, as far as I know (did not see it) Laura ran this evening and qualified for tomorrow's 800 metre final.
So, did Lynsey Sharp!!!
Not sure if that is Laura's only event or not, or why she chose the 800?
Not heard how Eilish is doing either, though she flew in from St Moritz yesterday.

Hi, Rusty!
I did not know that there were more Athletics events this evening?
Tranmission on the Red Button ceased at 5 o'clock sharp.......and the announcer simply said there would be more to watch on Day Two tomorrow, on BBC 2.
Perhaps they will show us this evening's events at the start of tomorrow's viewing?
We can but hope!
I do not think that Lynsey Sharp will ever live down her past history!
Certainly not in your eyes!
I am going to make a coffee........

Update, Rusty!
I have just taken another look at my puzzle....and have finally managed to parse my last remaining clue!
16a: Twice as true, power make you concentrate more? (13)
supersaturate = make you concentrate more (def)
anagram of "twice as true" x2
plus "p" for power
I think this is right?
It has been bugging me on and off all day!
(It must have been the strong coffee that finally made me see the light!)

Good morning, Elle!
Fine morning here!
I would not mind a drop of rain though!
I think your parse is "as true" twice, giving "astrueastrue" plus "p" for power, anagramed (is that a word?) to "supersaturate" for "concentrate more".
I am certain that is what you intended to put, Elle!
I am not sure what Red Button is up to, but today's transmission is BBC2, I think?
So, they would, I imagine, update us on the later events of Saturday.
I think, overall, BBC and Red Button, make a good fist of the time they have, to show us a long day's athletics.
The less I say about Lynsey Sharp the better.
I have started today in a good mood and would like to stay in said good mood!!

Good morning, Rusty!
It is very hot here, already 22C when we went out at 8am...and not a breath of air stirring....
I shall remain firmly fixed in the lounge with the fans going, if this continues!
I am puzzled as to why we are being threatened with hose pipe bans, after all the torrential rain we have had this Winter?
Yes, you are quite correct in your interpretation of my parsing efforts!
I just wrote it down wrongly!
Right, apple, and cheese ( for brain power!) and a look at the Everyman!
What do you have planned for today?

Hello, Elle!
I am staying home out of the heat!
I'll watch the athletics (I've written down the times of the events that interest me most, Laura runs at 15.36) and some of the French national cycling championships.
I'll forget the evening golf etc just now.
Miss La Bamba has just texted to me "Happy Canada Day, Granddad!"
She is off to Glasgow today for a concert sort of thing.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I feel home is definitely the best option in this weather!
It is pleasantly cool here in my lounge......the fan is doing a great job!
My daughter was to have taken part in a "Race for Life" Charity run today, but she has withdrawn - very wisely, I think! - because of the extreme heat.
There is to be another run in September......and she will do that instead.
We are all going to send our contributions to the Charity she supports - Cancer Research: UK - anyway.
So no loss to the charity now ......and, all being well, an additional gain in September!
I hope you are keeping up with your appropriate channel changes to watch more than one sport at once!
I am comfortable ensconced in front of the Athletics!
I didn't know it was Canada Day!
My Canadian friend is up your way...she is cruising the Scottish isles!

Hello Elle and Rusty!

Yes, home is definitely the place to be! Temps was 38C about half
an hour ago!
Both fans (ceiling and desk ones) are on, and it is still 28C inside!
Even for me, this is too much!

How are you both coping? Flaked out on the sofa by the TV set?

I think my dinner later on will be just made of fruit, fruit and more
fruit!

I hope for the riders' sake that it does not get as hot as this for
Le Tour! What about the various sports you are both watching?
Are they in doors, if not, how are all the participants faring?
You would not get me to do any sport at present, even for thousands
Euros

Hello, Elle!
Yes, Canada Day today!
I missed out on the cycling, stayed with the athletics.
It was very enjoyable!
Young Dr Muir ran a very good race.
And Steph Twell!
A wise choice by your daughter withdrawing from the charity run.
Too warm.
I think this is the best spell of weather that I can remember..
