Hi elle

I always found it the stuff of nightmares- being asked about keys, for example. She'd never taught us and only those who had piaon lessons had the foggiest. The stupid teacher would hand out manuscript paper and ask us to write down the note she'd played. I know more Swahili than that!
It took a long, long time before I listened to any music (except Radio Luxemburg) after that.
I met her at an Old Girl's Day (the only one I ever went, or will ever go, to) and told her so
And I still think singing should be done by concenting adults in private

Hello, Pigale!
I can see no problem regarding AnswerBank.
It covers much much more than this crossword forum does.
For instance, I like the Motoring section, and News sections, and Technology, and How it Works, on AnswerBank, and happily flit back and forth between the two forums, and I do not think I am on my own.
I visit other forums, too.

No Karaoke in public for me. My friends and family sing along when we have jam sessions. I mimed in the school choirs !
My last piano exam was held in a huge house.I was in my teens. When I entered the lounge, the examiner was seated at a table and he smiled. He was Italian and the most handsome man I had ever seen. I was shaking like a leaf. The piano was a baby Grand. I had only ever played on uprights. I did pass, but no merit, no honours, no distinction. I think the pieces included Chopin and Debussy. His notes said that my playing had charm. Swoon........

Hello Rusty!

Hope you had a grand time with your grand-daugthers!

I was merely expressing my feeling regarding Norah and Ash who
have always done so much for us.

Have your son and daughter-in-law enjoyed their stay in Paris?

Ending on a high note, then. Jazzgirl.
When I accompanied my 6 year old to his first guitar exam, there was a group of posh schoolboys with their music master. One of the boys was on Grade 0, the same as my son. We could all hear him stumbling through. When he came out he said very loudly to no-one in particular "And I am NEVER doing that again". I felt sorry for him.

Hello, Pigale!
Yes, we had a nice time.
My son and daughter are impressed with Paris, but say it is very cold!
I am not taking sides with Norah and Ash, or AnswerBank.
I am perfectly happy on both, and the reason Answerbank is being mentioned is that Mikey was a great stalwart of AnswerBank and also spent time on this forum.
It seems perfectly natural to speak of the places we came across him.

Hi, Rusty!
How was your outing with the girls?
I hope you all had a great time!
Did Miss O'H enjoy herself?
What did you choose to eat?
Whew!
Well, we are finally home again........but what a to-do!
There appears to have been some major incident on one of our main roads.........and on the way home, all traffic was diverted away from said main road and a major police presence.
We have had to drive several miles out of our way.
I hope no one was hurt...... but there were no signs of medical aid/ ambulances - so perhaps a robbery maybe?
No doubt it will be in the paper tomorrow!
I only learned about Ketevan the Martyr retrospectively, having come across Katie Melua!
I looked her up especially!
The Athletics has just started.......are you going to watch?

Hello, Ros!
I'm sorry I didn't reply earlier...
We have been out, and have only just returned.
I like the bit about your knowing more Swahili than musical notes!
Your description of your musical teacher tallies with that of mine!
How can we help being tone-deaf?!

I enjoy this forum and AB equally. There has been a bit of a disagreement over crossword answer-giving etc. , but I think we are all now happy in our respective places. Nice to see there are people on both forums.

Good to join in the chat here, as well. I usually just read for crossword hints.

Hi Ros
That poor schoolboy ! I know what is it like having to go up on stage to collect your certificate when tiny tots half your age have passed the same exam
