Hi, Rusty!
We are finally home again.
We enjoyed a very pleasant day out.
The trip to the garden centre was very successful......but my word, it was cold out in the Kent countryside!
Arctic!
We bought four different shrubs (individually priced at £5-99 each) for a total of £10 in the garden centre sale, so did well.
All we have to do now is face the freezing cold and plant them in the garden!
We had lunch in the restaurant there...so that was a treat.

You will have gathered by now that neither of us are "experienced" gardeners!
The shrubs we have just bought were outside in pots (in the frost) at the garden centre?
Does this still mean that we shouldn't replant them in our garden?

I would tend to agree with Ros - even if the pots were outside,
do you know for sure they stayed outside overnight?
Might it not be safer to wait 10 days or so, by which time this
extra cold spell will hopefully have passed - particularly since,
here at least, the Met Office is forecasting even colder temps
for next week, with minus minuses!!!

I understand why you ask that, elle, but a lot of very cold weather is forecast in the next few days and planting out puts "stress" on a plant anyway. I would keep them outside if I was sure they had been there in the Garden Centre, but give them some protection from frost and snow if possible.
Don't forget to dig a bigger hole than the pot and give them some blood and bone meal and planting compost, and a good watering before and after! Yes Miss!

I haven't bothered to check the dictionary...is it a cheese?
Don't tell me the cheese is a (sage) green colour?!

Chambers tells me that Sage Derby is a type of greyish -green cheese!
Mmmm.....I don't think I fancy it!
I have been not been fortunate enough to go to either Florida or Paris, so I don't know anything about the service....... but I am sure your son and his wife are having a great time exploring Paris, and sight-seeing!
I just hope it isn't too cold for them?
I hope they were prepared and took lots of warm clothing.
It is very cold here...and tomorrow's forecast starts us off at 0C, when we shall be out walking the dog!
We are promised sunshine though!
