Hello Rosalind,

Your own experience must have been dreadful, particularly
since he was your husband, a person whom you knew, loved and
cherished and with whom you had had children;
I can understand being under shock and feeling devastated in
those circumstances!

Hi, Rusty!
We have just returned home......
We had a lovely walk.
We met up by chance with a few friends and their dogs.........
We enjoyed the sunshine!
It was extremely cold though... a very bitter wind.
"Brisk" was the word to describe our progress!!
Yes, "railers" was a good one!
Re 4d: I has "air force" from "warriors on high" and the crossers, but did manage to parse the rest of it, retrospectively.
Thank you for the link about the emergency aid for Mikey.
Yes, good to know that folk rallied round, and also that the air ambulance was there so quickly .......
Even though sadly it was all to no avail, it must be reassuring that it was there?
So who won the ice hockey final?

Hello, Ros!
I am very sorry......I hadn't realised that yesterday was the Anniversary of your husband's death.
It must be hard for you and your sons when this day come around.

Hello, Elle!
The Yanks beat Canada at the ice-hockey!
I like "air for CE"!
Well done setter!
"Castellan" was a new word for me.
It appears as if no aid would have helped Mikey, but it is gratifying reading about those who did their damnedest to help him.
Now I best check on these girls to make sure they haven't burned the house down seeing Mum and Dad are away!

Hello Ros
I have just read your post. What a shock for you to have your husband die so suddenly, but the fact that some kind stranger stopped to help him was of some comfort to you.
Two members of my family (an aunt and an uncle) died in similar sudden circumstances and I have been thinking of them both these last 2 days, after hearing about Mikey.

Thank you rusty, jazzgirl, pigale and elle.

It was a shock and I think he missed out on some wonderful things, like our grandchildren. And he wanted a daughter so much and has a granddaughter he didn't see. But I have friends whose wives/husbands are in various stages of dementia or going through cancer treatment and I think that, at least, it is a merciful way to die. Just far too young.
You are right, rusty, I would have liked to thank and talk to the man who tried to save his life. One of the policeman who came here to tell me said he (the Good Samaritan) was devastated himself. At least his story told us all that there had been no suffering. I did talk to a Casualty doctor who had tried, as well. He was very kind. No cause of death was actually found!
The primroses (which were his favourite flower) spread every year. I often wonder if those who pass by in their cars ever notice and wonder why they're there. They are not common in this part of Oxfordshire on the roadside

Hi, Rusty!
Did you speak with, or text, the girls?
Is all well?
I am sure they are coping admirably!
And will also keep an eye on their granddad whilst their parents are away!
I missed out watching on "Eggheads" tonight........the receptionist from the GP surgery rang just as the programme was starting.
She wants me to go to see the practice nurse for a Blood Pressure check!
What a time to ring!
I don't think I set the recorder as I was expecting to watch it there and then.....
I haven't had chance to check yet.
Spaghetti Bolognese for dinner tonight.
What did you have ?

I didn't see Eggheads either, elle.

andI refuse to get my BP checked.

re Claridges, I think it's lovely to have an excuse to dress up. I went to a concert in Austria a while back, and to the ballet in Prague and everyone except the Brits and Americans were dressed very nicely, the women with jewellery.

Do people put on "Sunday best" any more? We had to wear hats and gloves to go to church!

Hello, Elle!
The girls assure me they are getting on fine.
(They are only two minutes away!)
My son has texted to me from Paris and says it is a lot colder there than here!
I am due my medical MOT soon, too.
BP, bloods, etc.
They usually find something to give me a telling off about!
I had a smoked haddock fishcake and half a bar of chocolate for my tea.
And it was smashing!

Hi, Rusty!
I usually check my BP at home......but there is a change of practice nurse and this one apparently wants to see me!
I am not going until the 7th March though.
The MOT usually comes along in April, but they are early this year!
I hope all is well, as I hate taking medication.
What do your son and his wife like doing when they are on holiday?
Do they go sightseeing?
I like to go to art galleries when I have the opportunity.
I should love to go to the Louvre.
No, I hadn't recorded "Eggheads"!

Hello, Ros!
I agree with you...it is great to have an "occasion" to dress up!
Given that, we might wait a few weeks to see if the temperature rises........
We will certainly look more "elegant" if not wrapped up like Michelin Man!

Hello, Elle!
The catacombs in Paris were mentioned as something they wanted to see.
Other than that I'd say they'd go and do touristy stuff!
I do not think they would be interested in art galleries.
Now you mentioned the Michelin Man.
Did I tell you before, his name is Bibendum?
Wonder if the Eggheads would know that?
He is a lot slimmer these days!
