Hello, Elle!
There are loads of videos on YouTube about Joy.
I typed The Woman Who Can Smell Parkinson's and there are heaps to choose from.
This is a good one, but short.

Good Morning, Elle!
Hard frost here!
I was a bit hasty posting the link to Joy's video.
If I had looked further down the list I'd have found the BBC Scotland documentary!
Here it is.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgnKWLuG9eA&t=83s

It lasts just under half an hour.
I have only watched the first two minutes and will watch it all later.
Got a few things to do first!

A Very good morning to you, Rusty!
It is glorious here!
Blue sky and bright sunshine, albeit only minus 1C!
Very hard frost ( a white world) resulting in frozen mud!
Therefore a clean dog!
A great walk!
Thank you for both links.....I shall watch them in a little while, once I have got a few jobs out of the way.
I am chasing my tail somewhat this morning.........
What is it like in your neck of the woods?
Have you had snow?

Hello, Elle!
Great weather here.
Hard frost and blue skies.
I have things to do, too.
No paper today.
I'll attempt the puzzle online.

Hi, Rusty!
I have just finished watching the BBC documentary about Joy and her ability to smell Parkinson's disease.
This really is incredible, and must surely be looked on as a huge breakthrough with regard to potential treatment , and possible prevention, of Parkinson's?
I am only surprised that this has crept up upon us ......rather than exploded out loud!
As I mentioned yesterday, my father had slight Parkinson's, but only suffered very mild tremors.
He was fortunate in that it made little difference to his quality of life.
The sister of one of my close friend is undergoing a Parkinson's trial.......she does not know whether she is taking a new drug or a placebo.
I do not know any details though.
I haven't looked at the crosswords yet......this has been so interesting!

Hello, Elle!
It is a very interesting documentary indeed.
It seems that Joy's ability to sniff out Parkinson's has astonished the experts and she is now working with them to further their knowledge.
Very encouraging, and she seems a very nice lady!
Well done, Joy!
I have did my puzzle online and am housebound just now.
Waiting on a phone call!

Hi, Rusty!
Whew, I have had a busy morning!
It has been one thing after another!
And folk have been ringing to chat.........
I am as far away now from starting my puzzles as I was first thing this morning!
Yes, that was a very interesting documentary concerning Joy, and there are lots of things I want to follow up.
The molecular signatures in sebum for instance.......
I fear a lot will go over my head, but I shall see what I can find out and understand.
It sounds to be a big step forward for the researchers to be looking for a medication to "prevent" Parkinson's disease, rather than to "alleviate".
It is good that you found out about all this.......
But for now, we are popping out to do some local shopping!
I hope your phone call comes soon!

Hello, Elle!
I thought with your career background that Joy's story would appeal to you!
Obviously, "molecular signatures" are way over my head, but you should be able to grasp them.
Joy seemed to fit in fine in the research labs with all the clever people there.
And she is very willing to undergo testing etc to further advance the research.
You just wonder where it will all lead, over time?
I am a fan!
You could have a look on YouTube....there are lots of videos there.
Yes, my call came.
Just my GP checking up on me!
A very thoughtful lad!

Hi, Rusty!
I am back home again.......and possibly going to hibernate until Spring!
The forecast is for the coldest night of the Winter!
No...seriously, it has been a lovely afternoon - the sun still shone...but everywhere was iced up, by mid afternoon!
It is definitely going to be a very cold night!
Your GP phones up to ask how you are?
That is service indeed!
Younger daughter has just phoned........ my grandsons sounded as though there were six of them, instead of a mere two!
I think their mum will be tired tonight!
Still no "Eggheads"...I am getting withdrawal symptoms!
I've just realised it is Thursday....is your son coming?

Hello, Elle.
Yes, coldest night of the year.
I shall throw another overcoat on my bed!
My GP has told me if I have a problem to 'phone him.
So, I 'phone receptionist and she relays message to doctor and he 'phones me when he gets a minute.
I knew he would 'phone today, but not what time.
It works very well, they say, and I agree.
Yes, I think my son will here soon.
He would text if he could not manage.
