Hi, Rusty!
How are things going at your end?
I hope everything is now okay?
We have snow forecast again for most of tomorrow........
I am hoping to get to the vet in the morning, but if the roads are bad, we shall just have to reschedule.
My cousin tells me that they have had a lot of snow up there - and her granddaughter was out building snowmen!
I realised today that I made an error in the parsing of a clue in yesterday's cryptic!
I had "miller" instead of "miner" for "labourer"!
And I missed accounting for "in".....
Very careless of me!
I bow my head in shame.......
Daughter has just phoned to say she will be working from home tomorrow!

Hello, Elle!
All fine here.
Very heavy frost outside and I am driving in the morning!
We have had no snow to speak of, just a few flakes blowing in the wind.
Low temperatures though!
Ah, but you noticed your error in the parse.
We all blunder from time to time at the puzzles!
Your daughter is lucky she can work from home!

Hi pigale

How extraordinary. I live the other side of Oxford to Witney but do drive along its bypass many times as I visit a 90 year old who lives in Cheltenham.
My brother lives near Much Wenlock and his daughter and family in Telford!

Some of the snow has gone but there are very few cars on my hill- not seen one yet! There is quite a wind, as well. So glad my power is back on, it's amazing how little you can do without it

Good morning, Rusty!
It is raining very heavily here....all signs of yesterday's snow long gone.
But it seems that from about 9 am, we can expect more of the white stuff!
The forecast is telling us that it will snow until 6 this evening.
I have not taken the dog out walking this morning, as we have a 10.30 am appointment at the vets, for her anal gland check up.
After that we shall visit the Crematorium.
Where are you off to this morning?
I hope the road conditions are not dangerously icy?
It seems today is being labelled "Black Ice Monday".
Take care when you are out.

Hello Ros,

How are things today? Has it stopped snowing and did you
manage to go for a walk? I hope it was not slippery.

We are having a wild storm here (and last night) with winds
flirting with the 70miles/hour - which is not much in comparison
with what the North of England and Scotland had, but it is rather
unusual for us here, well inland in the centre of the country.
One of my neighbour lost a tree which fell over our common
fence and half of it is now laying in the garden; I think there is a
branch that broke and landed on my roof, but there does not
seem to any damage from inside - I mean I did not go up there
to check, but there is no hole through the ceiliing!
Will have to be dealt with when things calm down somewhat.
But it is lucky that that tall tree was not even taller, otherwise my
house would have suffered.
I don't know if it made a noise - I slept through it all.

Did your son go to work this morning?

Hello Elle and Rusty,

Glad to know that things seem OK with you both weather wise;
As you will see from my post to Rosalind, it is rather wild here.

Good luck with writing all these Christmas cards Elle! I have given
this up a while ago, reducing the number as soon as we came
back to France, and keeping the UK cards to just our close friends.

Christmas cards were extremely expensive here in comparison with
the UK - I had neven seen boxes of 50 or 1OO cards for sale here
until recently on Amazon.

Hello, Pigale!
I think we have been very fortunate in our area and have come off very lightly with the bad weather - so far, anyway...... let us not tempt providence here!
And at last, the rain/sleet/ snow has ceased!
Even colder, but sunny and dry (supposedly) tomorrow!
Rosalind's experience was terrible!
Right, back to my cards........I might get halfway through, this evening, if I persevere!
