Hello, Elle!
Next time we will be earlier and I shall get my bacon roll!
7d, is a very good clue once you twig that "gutter" is used in reference to a candle flickering (threatening to go out".
The "le" took me an age to get"
The "feet of normal size" is indicating the last letter of "normal size".
It is the only thing I can see.
I think Andy/Roger is repeated this evening!

Oops, Elle!
If you go to your fine Chambers Dictionary, look under "steal" and you will find "steal".
Both mean a "bargain".
The drug is an "E", short for "ecstasy" I think.

Take 2.

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, yes, I see....
I did not know that "gutter" meant "threatening to go out"?
To me , it has always meant a channel along the roadside by the kerb, or along the edge of the roof.
I did not think to check for another meaning.
And yes, a "snip" can be a "steal".
Well done!
Thank you!
And I would never have taken "feet" to mean the last letters in 21d.
I hang my head in shame!
If Andy 's matches are to be repeated, maybe take the chance to watch Tim and Mansour Bahrami?
I promise you, you will enjoy it!

"The candle is guttering" is much more common than simply "gutter", elle.

I thought candles flickered , Chris ........although Anne B has "gutter" under "flicker".
But I have never heard said, nor read, of candles guttering!
I have learned something new!

"Flickering" is when they are burning correctly, elle - "guttering" is when they fade and come back (then eventually go out, leaving a trail if smoke)
