Hello, Elle!
I am off dandering for a wee while.
Have my grandson's birthday card to post first. Priorities!
I think BBC have done a superb job with the programmes.
Kirsty Young was excellent and had very knowledgeable folk in the studio with her.
Richard van Emden has a wealth of knowledge.
The story of the three Aussie brothers killed on the same day.
Just heartbreakingly awful.
Does not bear thinking about how that news was coped with, at home in Australia.
Yes, Michael Morpurgo was super!
(I'm going to explore the rest of his work, though I believe he is a children's writer)
So were the excerpts from War Horse.
AlexTheFatDawg has emailed that my book has been posted!
I thought William and Princess Kate did very well, too!

Hello again, Elle!
I had vaguely heard of Chinoiserie and got it by working backwards from Lake Erie!
It is a good clue!
23, This sloth turns up fairly regularly in puzzles, Elle.
It is an "ai".
A "bun" can be something hairy.
Giving "Nubia".
Baird of TV reknown is the inventor.
Remove "a" for adult from Baird and we have "bird".
A "chat" is a bird.
Like "stonechat" for instance.

Hi, Rusty!
I remember the story of the Seabrook brothers from elsewhere?
Would it have been from a passage in one of Lyn MacDonald's books?
Yes, a worthy tribute.
May we all long remember those who fought and died so bravely.
I did not know that an "Ai" is a sloth?
How can a "bun" be hairy?
I should never have got that in the proverbial "million years"!
I also didn't know the term "chat" for a bird - although I have heard of a stonechat!
Thank you for the explanations!
Enjoy your walk..........
How old will your grandson be?
We too are going to go out for a walk .......the dog is all ready for the "off"!

Hello, Elle!
Some ladies put their hair up in a bun.
Surely to goodness you know that?
Are you sure you went to school?
Chambers, "bun", "hair formed into a rounded mass."
My grandson has just graduated, so must be 21 or so?
I am hopeless with ages!
I did know they were Seabrooks, the brothers.
Possibly from Lyn M. I am not sure.
Yes, an "ai" is a three toed sloth and it's face seems to have a permanent smile.
They look very friendly sloths.
Robins are members of the chat family, too, and whinchats.
I looked up Michael Morpurgo and have bought another of his books.
"Private Peaceful".
He gets great reviews for his books, on Amazon.

Good evening, Rusty!
Er.........shall we just draw a (discreet) veil over hair and buns........?
Now, I ordered, earlier this afternoon, two books from Amazon.
"Painter of Silence" - that Ros recommended to me - and "War Horse".
I paid for them out of my Amazon account and received order numbers, and the usual blurb about shortly receiving emails to confirm.
However, I have just realised that said emails never arrived?
This is extremely unusual because this usually happens within minutes!
Do you think it matters?
After all, I have the order numbers and the transactions are showing in my Account details?
I never knew that a robin was a "chat"!
And I have never heard of a whinchat!

Rusty, European robins, stonechats and whinchats are all members of the Thrush family (Turdidae), along with blackbirds, fieldfares, and song thrushes (and others).
Stonechats are among my favourite birds- so lovely to look at and an amazing "song", like stones being knocked together.

I hope you enjoy "The Painter of Silence" elle.

Hello, Elle!
I am not sure if your email non appearance is important or not.
Possibly just a bit late.
You could email them and ask where/why, but may take ages for an explanation, or an acknowledgement.
I normally delete the Amazon emails and keep the PayPal ones.
Do you pay by PayPal?
I have noticed that there are varying P&P charges on Amazon now.
Used to be all the same.

Hi, Rusty!
I guess I can just wait and see what happens.....it shouldn't really be a problem as I do have the records, even if no confirming email?
No, I have never used Paypal?
I do not know what it is?
Usually I have vouchers/ money already paid into my Account , so do not have to make a payment when purchasing.
But if I did, I would pay by Visa.
I haven't noticed varying p&p charges?
When I was buying those two books - for 1p each - the package and postage was all set at £2-80.
The date given for arrival was 5-9 August.

Well I inadvertently paid a bill on pay pal with a long defunct CC and I only realised when I pressed the button

Anyway, not only was the account miraculously resurrected but sure enough there was the payment.

I couldn't even access it online to pay the bill because, yes the account was closed. To add
Insult to injury I forgot to pay it was a day late and they charged me £2.36. That will now be going on forever as they will charge interest of about 10p per month from here to eternities
