Hello, Elle!
That is good news!
Not too long until they are home!
And in other News today....
Peter Sagan managed to win the first stage of the Tour of Poland without knocking anyone into the barriers!
It has been a fine day here but maybe a bit cooler than it has been.

HI, Rusty!
It is still wet here!
It has been like this all day... a good job I didn't hang the washing outside on the Hill's Hoist!
Peter Sagan did well.
I wonder if a cyclist becomes extra cautious having once been suspended from a race; rather as a runner would, after one false start?
I have finished my book....must root around to find something else........
I definitely need to do business with Amazon!
I now have money in my Amazon account!

Hello, Elle!
I think in the heat of "battle" the riders' natural competitive instincts take over.
There is quite a bit of bumping etc going on, usually unintentionally.
I'm glad to see Sagan back with a win.
Yes, I saw the girls racing in London in the rain this evening.
Hope they get a dry day tomorrow.
I have been looking at a book on Amazon that I may buy.
"The Most Remarkable Woman in England" by J.Carter Wood.
It is about a famous murder trial in 1928.
My Amazon account is empty!

Hey, Rusty!
Ah yes, it is the London - Surrey Classic cycle ride tomorrow, isn't it?
The finishing line is on The Mall.
Locally, we are forecast early morning rain, but then brighter sunny spells later.
It may differ in Central London and part of Surrey, of course.
And then the other day, my husband walked in through our front door, dripping wet and carrying an umbrella, to find me and the dog out in the back garden - completely dry in the sunshine!
Bizarre!
So who is "the most remarkable woman in England"?
I topped up my Amazon account recently!
All ready for a "spend"!

Good morning, Elle!
Fine day here!
Yes, the London-Surrey race.
I am more interested in the scenery etc than the race itself.
No idea who is riding, but Sagan is in Poland and there was the big race in Spain yesterday.
Hope it is good for the spectators!
"The most remarkable woman in England" was Beatrice Pace, according to the book.
She was unknown to me until recently.
Think she lived in the Gloucester area.
It is our local football derby today, live on TV.
i think some of my young ones are going.
Is your family safe home?

Good morning, Rusty!
It was raining heavily when I got up, so I decided to postpone the (first) dog walk till this afternoon!
I have finished the Everyman crossword, instead, whilst drinking strong coffee and eating my usual apple and cheese!
Quite a nice puzzle!
I think coverage for the London - Surrey cycling starts at 11 am on the BBC.
At least the rain has now ceased!
And there is enough blue sky to make a sailor a pair of trousers!
I haven't yet heard from my daughter....I think she will have taken BB to his tennis lesson.
Will you watch the local football match?
You might see your grandkids among the spectators!

Hello, Elle!
No rain here, it is a beautiful day.
I will watch a bit of the football, but the Tour of Poland is on, too.
There is quite a bit on locally to do with the Passchendaele anniversary.
I hope to see some of that, too.
But right now, I am heading out for a walk.
Too nice a day not to enjoy a bit of it!

Hi, Rusty!
There is a programme tonight on the BBC at 7 pm about Passchendaele.
Also further coverage tomorrow morning, and Highlights in the evening........
I shall need to set the recorder tomorrow morning, though, as I shall be at the vets when it is transmitted.
Shades of Lyn MacD!
I read her book "They Called it Passchendaele".
I wonder if she still lives in North London?
Enjoy your walk!
It's brightening up nicely here, too, now

I recommend "The Painter of Silence" Georgina Harding- I may have done so before.

chrise. Found a caterpillar of the privet hawk moth on my newly-mown lawn yesterday ? dropped by a bird of prey? 3" long, fat, bright green. white diagonal markes with purple centres, spur on rear end, black and yellow underneath. put under shrub on soil as they pupate underground. 2 hours later it had gone.

Hello, Elle!
Not heard anything of Lyn for some time.
I presume she is still in North London.
Do you know that the title of her book comes from a Siegfried Sassoon poem?
"I died in Hell. They called it Passchendaele."
Her books were excellent.
Do you remember Sister Mary Stollard?
Saw Mark Cavendish on TV earlier.
Not sure if he rides today, though.
I like Cav.
Still a fine day here!
