Good morning, Rusty!
We have another glorious day, but it is bitterly cold as yet, only -3C.
We went over the fields and through the woods.....
Everywhere was white and frost-bitten this morning!
Yes, tennis this afternoon on BBC2 but only for one and a half hours... a miserly "dose"!
Do you have any idea who is playing?
You mentioned Novak - I was saddened to see him go out in the second round....like you, I am wondering whether he could be ill?
I am sorry to hear that you have not so much skiing to watch!!
Can you make do with the tennis?
Now for some piping hot coffee and the crossword!

Good morning, Elle!
Whence "piping hot"?
It is a fine morning here, but not as cold as you are getting.
I see the racing at Ascot is off, due to frozen ground.
I have no idea who is on BBC tennis.
Possibly Konta who is going very well?
I noticed Monfils shaking his head in annoyance when a helicopter flew over the stadium!
To both my son and me, Novak looks like he has lost weight.
So, I wondered why.
Serena certainly hasn't!
One lot of skiing will do.
Men's downhill today.

Hi, Rusty!
According to Brewers ,"piping hot" is "hot as water that 'pipes' or sings when it boils"!
( I didn't know that, but have just looked it up!)
Oh dear! We just had a ring at the door by a neighbour to say that she saw an elderly gentleman reverse his car into ours!
Said gentleman had yet to struggle out of his car!
I went and had a look but couldn't see any damage.
I had a word with him and he denied being anywhere near our car.......but as there was an eye -witness he wouldn't have got away with that if he had done any damage!
Anyway, no harm done as far as I could see.....
( I'm keeping a weather eye out for when he moves again though!)
I have been busy this morning.....had a visitor, done the Times Jumbo GK and made a start on the 15 x 15.
Are you watching the skiing?

Good evening, Elle!
No singing water up here!
How is your car?
Have you had a proper look?
Yes, I watched the skiing.
A very technical course!
Lots of drama!
Is your weather still as cold?
We have freezing fog, now!
Just finished my crossword.
Not too bad today!

Good evening, Rusty!
Have you had a good day?
What have you been up to?
Did Miss ATW move into her flat?
The car seems to be ok - no thanks to the gentleman who bumped into it though!
I have been watching "The Voice: UK"
You will not believe this....one of the competing singers was Jazmin Sawyers, a GB team long jumper from the Rio Olympics!
She came eighth in the Olympics Final.
And tonight was picked by one of the singing coaches to go further in "The Voice" competition.
She said "The Voice" was far harder than the Athletics!
Yes, very cold and frosty here!

Good morning, Elle!
Fell dreich here!
Miss ATW moved on Friday evening, her young brother tells me.
All went well, I am pleased to say.
I do not know Jazmin Sawyers.
Sir Andy lost his match in Australia, I believe.
I am out of milk, so heading off to buy some.
I'd best find a rain jacket first, though!

Good morning, Rusty!
And I hate to rub it in.....but we have a brilliant one here!
Again very cold and frosty, but the sun is shining and the sky is blue - and it is glorious out!
A tad treacherous underfoot as yet, but fine on the grass.
Yes, Andy lost to Mischa Zverev....I expect this will be one of the highlights that I shall see later today.
So...the two top seeds both out of the competition...this should open it up?
Did you see Jo Konta beat Caroline Wozniacki yesterday?
A great match!

Hello, Elle!
Hope you enjoy your fine weather!
I saw part of Konta's match.
Fingers crossed Jo has a good run in the Championship!
Eurosport has two channels churning out the tennis.
Hard to keep up!
I have just watched the second Cathy Freeman documentary, "The Reluctant Activist", and it was excellent.
The first one was a lot more about her athletics.
This one got stuck into the appalling treatment of the indigenous people.
"The Stolen Generations" etc.
The controvery about her carrying the Aboriginal flag etc.
Her lighting the cauldron at the Sydney Games.
Her gold medal run.
It was all in the programme.
Katharine Merry was in the programme, too.
She and fellow competitors praised Cathy to the heavens.
Well done, Sky Sports, for showing it!
I hope Lady Murray was not swearing when Sir Andy lost!

Hi, Rusty!
The documentary about Cathy Freeman sounds to have been very interesting.
I wish I could have seen it.
I remember her carrying both the Australian flag and the Aboriginal flags!
And although she obviously ran in the Australian colours.........didn't she wear running shoes that were in the Aboriginal colours?
Good for Cathy! a great ambassador!
I finished the Everyman quite quickly today.....four outstanding parses at first - but long sorted now!
Disappointing, as I like to "wrestle" with it for a while!
A friend also popped in, but she has just left.
Quite a pleasant leisurely morning!
Btw, I think I must have missed something about Andy's wife swearing?
Was there an "incident"?

Hello, Elle!
A great documentary.
At Sydney she carried both flags.
She is held in great esteem by all the athletes.
Good to see Raelene Boyle taking part.
She is a middle aged lady now, but in her heyday she was super!
Lady Murray was cursing during the Summer at a tournament.
Lara Gut won the skiing.
There is a British man leading in the men's event after the first run.
Dave ?. I have forgotten his surname.
All the ladies at the tennis seem to wear "blue"?
Wonder why?
I understand about Everyman..
I did the Sunday Times crossword on line and found it disappointing.
Just too easy compared to the weekday and Saturday ones.
Time they had Mr R in charge of it!
I think that is why I stopped getting a Sunday paper.
Crosswords were too simple.
