Hello, Pigale!
Thank you for the clip.
I am surprised that there are so many taking part in the one race?
I would have thought perhpaps two heats?
However do they manage to overtake in the space allowed without the wheels becoming entangled?
It would seem that if one wasn't out in the front from the beginning , there would be no chance of it later?

I hope your day goes well!

Hello, Pigale!
Yes, I did.
Amazing how they train the horses.
I have read that racehorses (thoroughbreds) are no good at this.
A very excitable commentator, too!

Hello, again, Pigale,
I Googled "harness racing crashes".
There are many on YouTube.

Hello again both,

I just looked on Google and though I could see many accidents listed there, I don't think there are that many in France ? Or have I missed them?

Elle, the technique for these races is about the same as that of a 1000m/1500m runner in Athletics; the good rider will place himself slightly on the outside, hold his horse back a little for a while, and then attack on the last long straight line, when the leading horse may already have given his maximum effort.

There are seldom less than 15 - 17 horses involved in those races.

Good morning, Elle!
The lull before the storm!
Granddaughters arriving shortly!
Pine Cone is closed on Mondays until near Christmas.
So, just staying here....I think!
I wondered that seeing you do not like crashes in bike races, you may have found the plastic surgery etc in your book, a bit distasteful.
I have the World Championships to watch this week.
Taking place in Doha, and I do not know wherever that is?
Very, very hot though.
Was 40°C yesterday.
What are you up to today?

Rusty, Elle, Pigale, Ros et al...

Possibly the worst specimen of its kind I've read this year, in today's Times Cryptic.
