Poetry in general is an acquired taste, rusty. Why don't people say what they mean, instead of using lots of words to conceal their intentions? (And as for Shakespeare............the last of his I was subjected to, I left at the interval. "King Lear", I think it was called.)

I do make an exception for Roger McGough.

I'm gathering that you are a Scot, Rusty? I hadn't picked up on that before.

Not quite a Scot, Elle, though I have lived here for many years. I am originally from Donegal.

Do correct me if I am wrong, rusty, but isn't the north of Ireland mostly Protestant because it was settled by Scots?

What is now known as Northern Ireland until recently had a Protestant majority. Very little in it now. Originally it was mostly Catholic, but they were forcibly removed to make way for the Scots Plantationers. When the statelet of Northern Ireland was created, the border was fixed to create a Protestant/Unionist majority in the North.
