I finally got to spend a couple of hours with this. Off to beddy-bye with four left (I wonder if they're the same as peterm's last ones). Brilliant, Les- and everyone else.

Yes, VERY original: eventually tumbled to the "Master Plan" (despite harrowing car search) and am now left with just 2 little horrors that won't give way.....................Time for breakfast!

I am sort of stalled by 3 downs in the bottom half that I think my answers might be right, but I'm not sure, so I am not devoting full effort to solving their crossers.
(35 some things that happen in American football?; 46 to do with house purchase?; 61 unpopular section of society?)
Am on on the right lines with these?
Still no idea of the "Master plan", despite having entered 4 of the answers, including the three-word one!

Chris, if you have the 3 word answer, you're so close to cracking the formula. Now say the three words in order and then where they are as one sentence (It comes out as a plural but works better as a singular.. Beware pedantics!)

Just to say that I've solved most of the clues including all your 3 letter ones. I've also solved the 3 word clue. I've noticed where the words are placed but I'm still waiting for that aha moment.
Very enjoyable so far though.

I did finally get them all (I think). Excellent. Far fewer question marks than usual.

Have been stuck for ages now on my last one, your 27a of course!
Particularly difficult, as I'm not sure whether the 3rd letter's a C or a D.
Any indirect hints?
