I don't agee, ixion: of the 5, 4 are down & 1 across; of th other 3, 2 are across & one down --- they then form 2 quite distinct groups!

The 5 are all of the same sex, but that's not important. The 3 represent both sexes, but that's not particularly significant ,either ,I don't think!

OK, this has confused me. I am missing 8ac and 6d and presume one of these is a 28 12. Is that right or have I gone wrong somewhere else?

I believe neither, but I have no idea what 6D is yet

Sorry - I know both now. I still have idea about 1D, 5D, 7A and 12A.

Ugh! Not enjoying this one at all, even when I get the answers. It seems a bit clumsy.

I have a theme (though not the unclued things) and some themed answers but 19D doesn't appear to have a themed solution - someone said it was the least well-known but I can't find it at all, unless I've got the crossing letters wrong:

And sudokulover? I don't get your hint for 12A - I'd already tried what you suggested but didn't get anywhere. Any other hints for that one?

And my 4D is -I-G-G: surely not?
