thanks timbo99 - I now only have 18ac .U.I to solve -

US reversed + 2 letter word for provided/condition/whether

I've guessed, but can't fully parse, two answers.
1ac: what has 25 got to do with it?
22dn: I'm guessing it must be the jazzer, but why 'singular amount of money'?

Thanks sudokulover, it had just occurred to me as you posted. Always good to have an Araucaria Saturday but there were a couple where the parsing was a bit obscure!

There have been actual answers supplied to prize crossword questions on this forum for years, that I am aware of. This "unwritten" rule is new to me, and probably to most folk who supply answers to The Times Prize Crossword and The Times Jumbo Crossword questions that appear each weekend on this forum.

Sorry - I was clumsy.

A few weeks ago I was trying to justify this site on "Fifteen squared" and argued that answers aren't usually given for the prize crosswords; however it is true that this isn't always the case.

Perhaps I should have said "wouldn't hints be better than answers"?

Chrise I do see your point, however earlier I did just that, got thanks from the OP - then two separate posters came along and answered them, does not seem to work on most posts.

I agree with you regarding hints for prize crosswords.
My point was, that when I first came to this site, there were lots of answers but few hints, unless a hint was specifically asked for, rather than an answer. I dont think that has changed.
