Well, I left the UK 40 years ago, so any links to (British) TV shows cause difficulties. Will try to hunt down a UK TV professor. 8-)

Fascinating! I stuck a hyphen after the first letter (why didn't you think of that before you idiot?), and blow me down, there she was! And from there to Prof Cox etc.

I'm afraid this is what happens when you lose touch with your homeland. Mind you, I should perhaps have come across the group even here (France).

Many thanks to all (you too Mrs T). 8-)

james, if you've been abroad you may have missed that group's big hit which Tony Blair adopted as his campaign song - Things Can Only Get Better. If only we'd known..............

hi Mrs Trellis,
Somewhat like james, I have been in OZ for more than 50 years, so I too have difficulty with recent UK-based clue references.
However, I am almost clueless on the SW corner, and I don't have a Chambers :-(

dizoz:

In 28A, think along the lines "ten-a-penny", or "seven-a-side rugby". Oh, and the city *is* French.
