Ta for the effort - haven't yet got 43down but if my guess is correct, I can't think of many cricketers who have the first name of FATIMA!!

Still have three to go! I had never heard of 42d but worked it out (good clue). Bullfrog spoiled me with 45a; the answer was the first thing that occurred to me when I saw the letter count, and I had to work backwards, having never heard of the cricketer.
My wife very often makes stuffed mushrooms! Again, pastille, they could be the answer to your "cat problem".

Completely stuck on the last 3, including 45a. Even knowing the cricketer, it's not helping . Before I corrected my 43d my brain kept giving me Bananarama.
I might just go and stuff a mushroom.
