Sorry, meant the first letters of each word in order, forming hogmanay.

As is post 22.....

It had occurred to me that it might be worth asking entrants to parse their clues, as it's not always clear.
Mine was an anagram ('excitedly') of 'many go hame' minus 'me'.

I know it can be frustrating if a good clue doesn't even get a mention but does it matter?

Given that the setter has asked for an explanation, obviously it does matter!

When I queried a result I was told 'it's just a bit of fun'. Seems like that may not have been entirely true.

I'm not sure why understanding the parsing of an obscure clue should stop it being 'a bit of fun'...

Because it shows that you care whether it might get overlooked.

I'm talking about wanting to understand other people's clues -- as is blue moon, obviously!

excuse me. if you know the answer but are unable to work out how the clue gets there doesn't that mean the clue is a bit iffy. isn't it a bit like jokes. if you have to explain it,it isn't funny.
