Thanks, sid48, for the slang clue. I think I now have it, but unfortunately, it means I don't need to change any of the letters! The two lower of the across words have to be changed anyway, and the first is just fine as it is. I shall have to think further.

I'd assumed the goddess was the last three letters, so I suppose that's right.

For 3dn, I make the letters to be transmuted the 3rd & 4th.

OK, that's 3D, although my letter for cross is only three-quarters of one!

But which letters of 21D are transmuted? The first letter fits in with 20A, where the end is changed, and I have the first two letters of the two other across words already changed.

Er, does that sense (probably as much as the crossword does anyway)?

I've still got too many gaps in the lower half of the grid, including 20ac, but I assume it's the 2nd & 3rd letters of 21dn that need be transmuted.

What confused me was that it appears that both pairs of letters have to be changed at the intersection.

Or maybe not.

This one has involved far more time than any of the others, and I'm not even sure my submission is correct, but I've sent it in and I'm glad to be rid of it.

14a & 7d causing problems (amongst several others).Former Tory MP/leather worker (14a)?? "Initially Crosby trips over lines" ought to be an anagram of "c & lines", but I can't work this one out, either. Any pointers?

You're almost there with 7D, but it's not lines that has to be rearranged with the C

I inscribed 7d too. What do you mean Pendragon?

Finally cracked 20ac thanks to the 8...5/3 thing.

Just left with 15d and 25ac...any hints?
