Given up on Azed (for the time being) and having a go at this. Enjoyable so far! Anyone else made a start?

Looked at the special instructions then decided to do Rufus (Guardian) which seemed to be harder than usual but perhaps my brain isn't up to it today!!!

Not being the wimp I sound, I will try harder and be more determined...

Have been trying to do this while spit-roasting in the two days of summer we have had so far. Managed bottom right corner but struggling with top left apart from 7ac. Any pointers gratefully received.

I have ten to go, but what's difficult is that you may very well have the right answer, but it doesn't fit because you have to shuffle the letters over by one.

And I was convinved 28A was P(U)RIST (cartoon - anag. - strip gives PRIST, i.e., PURIST less U for United States). I have it now though.

I always forget that the Genius is published at the beginning of the month!
