Brendan, I made the same mistake, which caused me to doubt my crossing entries. I only worked out the 'girl' by eliminating all the other letters in the alphabet. Agree with Jono, but I only have three 4-letter words ending in A? Will re-check.

Sorry Ilippu, I started the "man-eater" parse with 'first 4 letters' but forgot to say 'of an 8 letter man-eater'. after it.

Me, for one, initially. Then I tried to put it where the zone is, when the boat didn't fit ...

No worries Brendan; knew the bibilical place with letter pair. It was the wrong entry that had to be corrected. Thanks again.

Still a few to do and like many of you troubled by the four and six letter words in the corners. I also have two of the eight letter words to get.
Thank you Brendan for your hints. In fact I had managed to solve the anagram for 8ac on my own. I was thrown by Maskarade using Virgin in both the anagram and the definition. I know the colour well.

Thanks for other hints as well that have pointed me in the right direction - organ stops and Brazilian dances.
I'm not sure I'll find time tomorrow to battle on. It does get a bit obsessive. You may hear from me again. Well done to those who have completed the puzzle.
