Thank you, Brendan. I was hung up on "distressed" being an anagrind...doh!

Well I’m there - crossword novice. Not quite sure how and why but I’ll take it as a win. Loved 21down but 20 across is a bit of a mystery. Spoonerism, a reference to a song we used to sing when we were kids. Some guidance would be appreciated

Hi Nunoesque,
Spooner is famous for swapping the initial sounds of words in the same phrase. So here if you swap the initial sounds of the first and last words you derive the gardening meaning (ignore spelling).
Hope that helps.

Thank you - I’m with it now. Would you also mind explaining the Everyman references in some of the clues. Should I substitute with I, all ,e to solve. Many thanks

“Everyman” self-references might be I or ME.
“Everyman is” could be I AM or I’M.
There are probably other variations but hopefully you get the idea.

Hello all!

Enjoyed today's a lot, but struggling to fully parse 2D - I can see the peacekeepers flipping, but don't understand why it's at the start, nor why the rest of the clue (dim) is an antonym for the rest of the answer? Am I also "flipping" the meaning of dim as well as the peacekeepers?

Thank you!

Ariadne, it’s simpler than that. Just start with the word for dim, then flip the peacekeepers bit.
