The clues...
Requests for help should normally include the clue itself, the number of letters in the answer, and details of any you already have. Any additional information, or special instructions, common in Listener puzzles, should also be included.
HINTS only, please, no answers.

The theme...
Help towards the theme may also be sought here. The help given should be fairly gentle in nature - just a nudge, a pointer in the right direction (and certainly not anything that would spoil the puzzle for others.) Any posts which, even inadvertently, reveal too much of the theme are likely to be removed.

In general...
Unsolicited help - with clues or the theme - will be removed.
There are many regulars on the Listener thread, but newcomers are always welcome - and should be made to feel so.
The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

An enjoyable puzzle, with a fairly gentle end-game. Thanks Charybdis.

Certainly enjoyable

BUT

Only 3 letters need changing

And there appears to be some ambiguity about some of the clash resolutions. We can only get rather obscure words

I've been resisting getting an online subscription....partly because I like the ritual of read, the paper, shout at the paper, burn the paper in the rayburn.

However, useful kindling aside, I think the financial benefits of going digital are irrefutable. Can somebody just confirm that the puzzles only subscription does definitely include the Listener? Thanks, all.

I don't know the answer to your question, Whistler. I just want to say I enjoyed your post.

Woodlouse - true that only three letters need changing, ...but it is also true that a 4-letter string changes in a thematic way, even if only 3 letters are different.

As to the clashes, for me there was only one obscure word.

Thanks, Woodlouse. Hopefully somebody on the forum is a puzzle only subscriber.

Highlighting the final letter of the 6 might need very careful penmanship - or am I missing something?

Cockie - Not sure if this is helpful! - but I don't see this need for care myself. The 'last letter of the 6' is distinct from the other occurrences of the same letter in the '4,6'.

whistler - my 'puzzle subscription' gives me access to the Times Puzzle Club which includes The Listener. I rang them and gave a sharp intake of breath when they told me how much. So they asked if I'd be prepared to pay a lower amount. Just saying.......
