This crossword is a work of absolute genius.
In two minds about a couple of the artists, but I'm not bothered - I am just too impressed by Harribobs' creation and creativity.

I've got a full grid apart from 35d. _OR_EL. Any hints?

Felipedon, in 35d. the 'food store' definition is the part of a plant which grows underground.

Thanks to Harribobs for an excellent puzzle and beautifuy appealing endgame.

Unfortunately for me, the first 7 or so artists I located were all coloured in in what I'd surmised to be the "key work", however, when I noticed Jean A D ...... in the bottom right is plain white in the work and others where there was no artist were coloured in, I assumed I had the wrong painting and spent an age looking for possible alternatives.

That aside, a great construction and, once again, hats off to Harribobs for a real treat:-)

What else made me think I might initially have had the wrong painting was that there are 18 non white areas on the canvas and 18 artists in the grid, so, like I said earlier, when the first 7 or 8 identified all appeared where there was colour, I'd just assumed that all of them would be.

I'm actually beginning to doubt myself and wonder if I've maybe slipped up, so can I just confirm that the "A" in the grid is a big hint?

Brendan, yes. I have the same artist in that location, and 2 others in white areas.

I was hesitant to even post these messages lest they be deemed by some as a criticisism, which I can promise you is totally not the case.

Many of you will know I have an artistic side to me and I honestly thought this construction by Harribobs was nothing short of genius:-)

Got twelve artists, but something went pear shaped bottom right. Help with 39D (f.r..) and 29D (st.d….) would be appreciated.
