Those of us who do this in the app I assume will soon lose the Everyman. I'm not sure. When the sale goes through presumably the Observer will be a separate app. Make the most while you can.

If I’m right about 23, def is ‘jaunty tune’ and it parses as 3,1, the 3 being a diminutive word for ‘dainty’. As I say, I don’t much like it.
24 is an insertion of a 5-letter word for ‘carried’ in a fairly standard 4-letter word for ‘rely’. The def is ‘they say’

23 parses as 3, 1
24 parses as 6 inside 4

geeker is right and I’ve done it again with the enumeration. I appear to be innumerate. Apologies.

As you say and I agree, 23a is certainly not the best of clues !

I’m not so sure, Rocky. I would have thought that Everyman (and Azed for that matter) are free to set puzzles for whichever publications they wish to. They are not staffers on the Observer like other journalists so won’t necessarily go with the sale. I could be wrong of course, but let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Everyman today was a write-in, apart from 24a. Unusual for me. Such a contrast to the (excellent) prize yesterday, which I have only just finished with LOTS of help from the forum!

Can I ask for help please?

There are lots of clues I find unsolvable.

6a and 10a…I know they’re only 4 letters but I have stared at them for 2 hours and they are impenetrable to me.

19a - is this anything to do with Loch Ness?

Difficult to give hints for 6 and 10.
