Hi Hamptonian,

I thought it was more difficult than usual, perhaps more akin to a Prize - but maybe I'm just tired:-)

I still haven't decided what to put for my answer to 2d, even though only a handful of words fit the letter pattern?

i did the same because of the name aspect of the clue but was initially concerned by the "fatty" part, however, Chambers has one definition as "containing a high proportion of fat ....", so - all good:-)

So much to like in this one. COD 9a or 13d. 19a was just brilliant. Thanks Everyman.

Spent a long time with the wrong word for 20a and wondering why it didn't parse, and why I couldn't get the two crossers. But after that little snafu resolved itself, all fell into place pretty satisfyingly.

On with the weekend.

Hi everyone. Very long time lurker, first time poster.
After struggling with the last couple of weeks, I found this to be almost a write in from start to finish which was a nice start to my Sunday.
FOI and also my COD is 1a. Little nostalgia trip which made me smile but even for those too young (or did not grow up in the UK) to get the cultural reference it was still a perfectly approachable clue. Bravo!

Thank you Brendan. Now I’ve outed myself I hope to join in more. The Everyman is always my most anticipated, and usually most enjoyed, puzzle of the week. Rarely fails to make me smile.
