Those of you who follow my cruciverbaling exploits closely, and you know who you are, have no doubt been wondering, when will buddy have another puzzle in Big Dave's Rookie Corner? My friends, your wait is over:

Thanks Buddy, very enjoyable. Good mix of clues and one or two I recognised from Clueless I think.

I’ll look forward to Prolixic’s review tomorrow. The only thing I can think of that he may mention is using “Piece of…” and “scrap of…” which I’m told some editors wouldn’t allow. That’s being super nitpicky though.

Last week’s “Rookie” received a perfect score, so good luck!

Very pleasant pastime while I'm waiting for my wife to finish packing! (Long drive - by British standards - ahead today.)

jono, the Clue Clinic gives both piece and scrap as valid first letter indicators, so at least I can appeal to that authority.

Thanks all. Looks like this one put me over the top and I am longer considered a rookie. Next stop Hollywood!

Mant thanks Buddy, that was good fun

Tied myself in knots trying to parse 25a after initially assuming "noble mostly" referred to the final 3 letters, even when it meant the rest of the clue made no sense I was loth to give up on it - kicked myself when the penny finally dropped!

Many thanks Buddy - that was most enjoyable.

Like Brendan, I was stuck parsing 25 and similarly concentrating on the last three letters (I felt like a right nobleman when I eventually saw it ;) ).
