Thanks to all for submitting entries to this distinctly non-election themed Clueless. A large number of great clues to choose from here, and I can finally empathise with those who dread having to pick just one!
Lots of anagrams found - impressive for such a tricky batch of letters. Raffles’ @7 is clever, if a bit risqué; with Paul @8 and tyke@10 being good contenders, too. I particularly enjoyed Paul’s meaty mishap @15, and Chris’ simplicity @3.
Many a forky homophone submitted (which I didn’t even consider may not work for some) - amej’s chess-based clue @5 is tidy, as was Anthony’s herbaceous humour @12. I enjoyed Swarbrules @19 immensely - “sound of cutlery” reads nicely.
Buddy’s spoonerism @20 is very smooth, and Paul’s clueing of GUY NIGHT was a nice touch. Sam’s different soundalike @17 works well, as does jono @18 with a nice surface reading, and fieryjack@32 with a reference to buddy. Aristo’s “Fired up Catholic” @24 is perhaps my favourite definition.
Trying not to ramble on for too long, my top three are:
Bronze to chrise@3 for his gawky fuse.
Silver to sam73@17 for a very neat surface reading.
And my personal favourite, for a fun definition, elegant wordplay, and fantastic use of stag party -> guy night, is paul@4 with:
Woman wakes up in stag party - with explosive results? (3,6,5)
Well done paul, and thank all for entering!
