buddy: In broad Bostonian it’s actually pronounced FOX.
My wife is from Rhode Island, where they do funky things with Rs but not on a Massachusetts level. When our kids were young and she took them to a soccer sign-up she was startled to hear the organizer say, “Now they just need their shots.” He meant shorts.
