surely [tba] merely means "to be arranged" as is a combover.

Sure, but it’s the pseudonym not the title unless you’re suggesting they will change their pseudonym for every puzzle or ensure that every puzzle they write has some cryptic link to “to be arranged”

First time for a while that I've needed a spreadsheet! Not an over-hard grid-fill, and - as others have said - it's possible to get to the final grid without resolving the ABCD allocations completely, but extra effort to go all the way was rewarded with some entertainment.

Agreed Buzzb

Strictly deploying your approach I have members 2-9 of set D, which is frustrating but I can submit keeping my secret failure to myself

Completely baffled. The NW corner has me stumped as I cannot solve 1a or 18a. I have answers for all the other clues other than 1d. I have 10 in set A but only 6 of set B and not a clue on sets C & D.

1a - 4 letters for 'to omit (to)' minus its last letter, then a single letter abbrev.
18 - There's an extra letter at the start of 'place noted for industry' (4).

Plodding on here. Now have all of sets B ,C (that is if the sum of their clues numbers is 212 (sorry drxx)) and D. That being so, set D is now puzzling me more than ever. I've managed to parse all of my entries other than the three that I am stuck on.

Like others, all done and agree that there is pleasure to be had from the D group. But can't fully parse 7, wd be grateful for hint.

Thanks drxx, in know the letter in 18a, but I'm still working on the answer. Now got 1a, searching for 1d.
