For some reason, the fifteensquared blog hasn't appeared yet, so I'll ask here (without giving the answer). Do you think the two-stage process in this clue (if my parsing is correct!) is fair?

4d Go round fair for fish appetiser (7)

Hi Chris, If I've understood it correctly it seems fine.

The first four letters are "go round" and Chambers gives one definition of the next three as "A hiring fair"

Indeed, Brendan, it’s not an allusion to rhyming slang, as one might think

Ah! I thought I had to go by way of Barnet!

Thanks Chris and hi Quisling,

I did initially think about good ol' Barnet, in fact it brought up memories from a job years ago where a girl said I looked like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo! 😡

Be grateful she didn’t say you looked like Velma, Brendan 🤓

Yes, I had to look up that meaning of fair.

I wasn’t sure what “belittled” was doing in 19a… any ideas?

Curious that there’s no blog today.

Jono, re 19a, I assumed it referred to the smaller scale nature of the answer, as referenced in Collins, though not really in Chambers

Yes, I thought it just meant "small" too.
One more - how does "candidate" fit into 3d? Is it just for the surface?

Thanks Quisling. I’m sure that’s the intention, I had only read the Chambers entry.
