I think highlighting the winner appropriately illustrates the "outcome".

Well, I've changed 4 letters and highlighted the 7 that involve the change. I'm sure I'm missing something though as that was hardly the biggest news of the event.

Hi Ginge, yes I was a bit underwhelmed - so I assumed I'd missed something. I'll tidy up my grid and give it a hard stare and look at a couple of parsings that I'm not 100% on.

Granama, I think that was the clever bit of the puzzle. Expecting a different ending to the required one. Really enjoyed the solve, excellent clues.

Afternoon all - I have a full grid, have identified 10 of the 11 pairs of letters, and am still struggling to identify the event and venue from them.

I've rather struggled to parse Kirsanov's clues, finding some pretty dark hirse words LOL.

Any hints for the event/location aporeciated - I may have selected one or two oairs of letters incorrectly.
