Think this crossword unsuitable for vast majority of solvers. I can find many names on Google which are famous but not included. Only got 4 of themes so far. Pretty boring just searching. So many 5 letter names and none I find fit the letters!

Same question from me. The Mancunian album name I cannot fit anywhere, and it does split into two words so is that the one you are referring to? Driving me crazy!

What is timescale of thematic clues. I'm looking at current but very few fit anywhere. Is it this century?70s, 80s, 90s? Usually like this type of crossword. Totally annoyed with this one.

Thanks.

From the 60s to today, in terms of time scale

Slightly naughty of Maskarade to take one of the thematics and split it across two grid entries.

i dont think it needs to be an album, it may be a single. I wish I had ‘got down with the kids more’ never heard of some of these!

Well, this didn’t take me nearly as long as I had feared, and the presence of a younger person helped me solve all the unnumbereds without resorting to Google. However we both scratched our heads for a very long time over the oldest one, and eventually I deduced it from the crossers, using a search to check that I was right. There was a nice logical element provided by the alphabetical order instruction, which made this a very satisfying challenge, for me at least.
FOI 2, LOI 47, which struck me as a little loose in terms of definitions.
I liked the images presented by a number of the anagrams (e.g. Shy ratty wassailers), and kudos to Maskarade for producing so many.
Of the numbered clues, I’d go for 5d as COD
