I have three of the numbers. Struggling with the top left one though. I would like to begin it with a r and end it with an l but the rubric does not allow for this. Help.

Thank, Hugh, for reposting in this thread as Malone requested. Welcome to the Forum, you’ll find everyone very helpful here.

Perhaps you would like to read the two threads I’ve just bumped to the top headed PLEASE READ, one deals with Duplicate Threads and the other is our Posting Guidelines. I think these will help you understand our the Forum operates.

Thanks, Norah, and thanks, Hugh!
Hugh, you're right about that unclued entry ending with an 'l', but it begins with an E. Are you remembering the second part of the instruction....?

hugh - It begins with e, have you got any of the silvered items? top right fell first for me, then clockwise from there. The title was also useful

Thanks Norah, Malone and Andy. Restoril is my best effort. But it is clearly wrong as it should begin with an e as you say. Still baffled. Too many numbers in my youth perhaps!

Hugh, my Chambers defines that first Down unclued entry as being used 'especially in childbirth'. Does that help?

Aha. I have it now. I foolishly had unhorse instead of dehorse! So now I have changed that it all makes sense. Thanks everyone.
