Got it - thanks, Chrise. Is it also a double definition? Not a definition I’d heard of, but google confirms it.

Spinynorman, that definition is how I (finally) got the solution. So maybe 23 is a sort of &lit in addition to dd.

23 is what I would refer to as a “visual gag”.
I like it, very original.

Started even later than usual, but finished in about two hours. What a lovely crossword with some amusing clues. Yes, lots of anagrams, but I like them. A couple held me up for a bit and I'm still not sure about 20 and 24d. Like you Chris I was confused about the spelling for 27ac.

FOI was 1/6 - easy anagram, LOI was 17d and 4d - it took me a while to parse the latter.
CODs 23d, 11ac and 18ac

Yippee, I have time now to plant some plants in the garden.
