Has everyone completed this without needing to post here, or are others struggling like me this weekend?

I can't speak for everyone but I'm struggling with most of the SW corner done and four letters in theline of verse. Help on 1d might get me going, "Erected short support inside circuit (5)" but it might be undefined.

This is quite tricky until you work out the quote. 1d is indeed undefined

I have an answer for 1d which is symmetrical with 35d both beginning with the same letter. Can’t see any significance and haven’t got the letters required to find the verse. Yet. Can someone help me with 19d: escorted Dutch to Anthony’s place, like a butcher’s? I have S???UST? which only throws up one possibility which I don’t understand. Who is Anthony?

Jogamel, Anthony is the patron saint of... the occupants of the last three letters in the answer.

Escorted = three letters, Dutch = two letters, Anthony's place = three letters. Definition, like a butcher's.

Anthony is an archaic name for the smallest pig in a litter, hopefully that tips the scales for you.
Meanwhile, I'm struggling with 1a and 1d, and 28a too, none of which I can find any solutions that make sense, or ate even words. I have the line of verse, the poet, the dedicatee AND the thematic word, so these 3 are especially infuriating!

19d is a three letter synonym for escorted, two letter abbreviation for Dutch and a dirty place (3 letters, I don't yet see the Anthony connection) and describes an old fashioned butcher's shop floor.

Like others I am struggling, have SW full, but not fully parsed. Rest of grd is very patchy. Most useful help for me would be on 5a and 27d.
