As written the rules say the tiebreaker is outright first place votes, of which mattrom has 1 (from aristo) and jono has none, so mattrom 18 wins without the need for a run-off.

Yes, the votes are for the clue not the person

Ok having read rules, it says first places are "taken into consideration". On that basis, Mattrom leads both in terms of number of 2pts scored and in terms of outright 1sts so in the absence of an appeal from Jono, Mattrom had to be the winner.

A bit unsatisfactory but given that we had two such closely matched clues then I think we should all give a clap to both worthy entrants and remind ourselves that both clues were excellent.
