Surprised to see I'm first to comment. Never opened a thread before!
I'm sure Everyman's getting difficulter (is that a new word?). I finished this with a Phew! Surely nobody in Blighty has heard of 12! 8 is clery vever.

Smot, yes I agree about 7d. Chambers doesn’t specify the sport the term relates to, so it really should be “perhaps cricketer”.

If it helps the river in 24 is not in very much not in Asia.

For 21D think of a part of a hostelry followed by the usual Everyman pronoun. I am stuck on 5D which seems unsolvable as I have T?E?F?C. Also 12D despite a fairly obvious first word. And 24A seems to have only one possible answer which is unparsable.

Cymro, your E is wrong. Check your spelling in 9a, perhaps.

24a parses as 3, then a 5 letter anagram with 2 single letters inside.

8d is too clever for me! I can see the answer but ..... I keep repeating the clue to myself waiting for the penny to drop!

All done now but oddly my LOI was 10. A city I know well as we often pass by en route to our holiday home in Normandy! An excellent Everyman, 8 made me smile.
