Agree 8D is a terrific PDM, but I fear you have to be a VERY experienced crossworder to arrive at the answer from the clue alone, so perhaps it's not particularly suited to an Everyman puzzle. I also had to use this site's fill in the blanks to get LOI 13D. And I've never heard of 10A, which made it even less likely that 8D would come to mind without assistance, (Also, 'city' seems a bit of a stretch!) All in all, another tough one for me. (But it did come the morning after a good day at the Guineas, so I'm mostly blaming that!)

12d is an anagram if that helps?

I can't decide if I like Everyman's new incarnation or not. Perhaps as it is a Bank Holiday we got a slightly tougher one. I thought this was a good puzzle overall and I like the 8d twist on the norm and the slightly alternative definitions on some. For that reason I liked 5d and 16a.

End of the day. Like many, I found this quite difficult, but got there this morning. Expected to see a lot of posts seeking help. Surprisingly few. I think I prefer it slightly tougher because I had found a few recently that were relatively straightforward a little frustrating.

Liked 15a.
Loved 8d. Good to see him back. Need something to make up for the slaughter on 26a.
