I can’t parse 25a - I assume first 7 are “powerful man” but the end?

Hi Ian,

25a - I think it's "Strong man" 7 like you say, then "alongside" is 2 letters and then for the last letter you can choose either the beginning of "Nick" or the end of "Robinson"

very irritating puzzle. i've filled it all in, but some i'm not sure i have right - 1a for example.

11d seems to be solely a us usage.

Chris, 1a is an anagram (at sea) of various parts of what goes before.
I’d also not heard if 11d and Chambers says it is American and named after the inventor.
